Proper trading language never made anybody money…proper trading does.
You would be correct though, since it was a short…selling would open another position. Since I did talk about? closing a portion of the trade and didn’t end up opening another position, I think it is pretty clear I misspoke but acted appropriately.
That said…..it would be fine to say sell a portion of my position if I was long because hedging is not allowed and I would not be opening a sell.

I like your style and to be sure you look to be a better trader than me but I must say that you are not using proper trading language. You should? say “close my position” and not use the word sell. In reality once you use the word sell, you are now speaking of opening an additional short and not to close the current one.
